    Fitting tips 02 May 2010

I fitted this seal to an Bosch dishwasher, approx 10 years old. Door was leaking from lower left corner. The seal is easy to fit once you get your head around how it locates. My method of fitting was as follows ( all screws are Torx 20): 1. Remove lower door panel, there is no need to unscrew the control panel assembly. 2. Unscrew door from hinges, gently allow hinges to return to their home (up) position 3. My hinges had small holes that allowed them to be wedged open at around 45 deg. I used small screwdrivers between the adjacent cupboards and the washer body. I had no luck holding the hinges fully open with large blade screwdrivers as described in other posts. 4. Fit the plastic brackets to the seal and locate on the door. 5. re-locate the door onto the hinges sandwiching the seal brackets. 6. Insert door-hinge screws, I found I had to remove the 'wedge' screwdrivers during this phase to get the screw holes lined up. 7. Push the seal through under the door and attach to washer body. 8. Replace door cover and test.

    good item 05 March 2010

The part is as described and works very well, the delivery time is pretty good (5 days including a weekend). A 'helpful' plumber said i should chuck the leaking machine and he would replace it for £300, so at £30 the price is excellent. The included 'instructions' are less than useless. I definately needed the instuctions in the other reviews. However i have an older bosch machine and i could find no way to wedge the door hinges open with screwdrivers. There was no position that had enough friction to resist the very strong springs. Instead i found a small hole which, if you slot a small screwdriver through, holds the hinges open at about 30 degrees. just right to complete the job. another thing - my old seal was leaking for 2 reasons. at one end the rubber had perished, but at the other it had just worked itself loose. if you only have this second problem you may not need to replace the seal. just refit the original.

New design is great but instructions woefull 26 February 2010

New part is a better design than original fit. Instructions are no use so fitting was tricky until I removed side panels and unhooked spring cables for door - once that done it was a piece of cake to fit

bosch door seal 17 February 2010

read the other reviews, had a go myself. took about an hour, you only need torx wrenches, you can even wedge the door hinges open by putting other torx wrenches in the holes so you can slip the seal in. seal looks diferent but works and fits the same. m/c is 12 years old but a £30 seal saved £400 on a new one. go on have a go,its easy.

Bosch lower door seal 11 February 2010

Very efficient service from E spares - arrived very quickly bearing in mind I live in Cyprus, however the seal is an absolute nightmare to fit -it took three of us about 2 hours. No instructions are supplied apart from a vague diagram. It would be useful if they told you in the first place to disconnect the tension on the door hinges (lift up and pull off the little plastic locking device at the bottom). If you try to fit it with the hinges still on tension it is impossible to do as you can't hold the hinge in an open position easily once you have taken the door off, and then you need to try and line up the three screw holes for the hinge, the door and the new seal which is a bit of a challenge to say the least. Anyone hearing us work on this would have blushed at the *** language!

Bosch lower door seal 26 November 2009

The instruction sheet did not provided any useful help, only a warning as to where the brackets should be placed. I think an indication that either special tools are required or it must be carried by two people should be included. A warning too that the design has been changed would have been helpful.

Tricky door seal 28 July 2009

Second time lucky with the seal, The first one had a broken brkt. second one bent but usable, similar review to the rest ,in short, take out the three screws either side of the lower front panel, remove it from the bottom as it hooks into the control panel. Open the door fully, insert the two scewdrivers either side to lock hinges open( make sure they are secure as they can break the door hinge Bearings if they fly up too often, I put mine in place then fixed them together with tape and/or plactic straps to a piece of metal to ensure they could not come out of position) Place plastic ends in place as per diagram on seal (make sure the square of the brkt shown in picture is on the middle {central} of the three metal sides ) push the seal onto the lower tray, then remove the two screws either side holding the hinges, now insert the plastic brackets between the hinge and Stainless door replace the screws, fully tighten, then remove the screwdrivers, replace the front cover and replace the six screws, fully tighten. JOB DONE. hope this helps as the picture is not really self explanitory

Fixing replacement dishwasher door seal 17 June 2009

At first I was perplexed to find the replacement differed from the one I took off but I was reassured when I read the other comments. I needed two screwdrivers to make the job possible but they were large ones lashed together with insulation tape. Then with the hinges securely jammed in the fully open position the job was relatively easy.

    fantastic improvement 28 February 2009

very fast service with dhl, very impressed. the seal itself does look different to the old one, but works so much better. although i managed single handed it would definitely be easier to fit with an extra pair of hands.

It does the job well + tip for fixing 26 January 2009

The seal certainly does as it says and the leak I had before, has stopped. Fitting on Bosch was not as straightforward as I had expected. Having read other reviews I knew this may be the case. The 2 photos on the instructions are difficult to understand. In hindsight I think what they show is the dishwasher door closed with just the lower outside cover removed. I made the mistake of taking the control panel and hinge screws off as well and it meant having to lock the hinges open with screw drivers to change the seal and refit the door. TIP: try undoing the screws that corrrespond only with the lower outside door cover (leave the control panel screws alone)and see how you get on. The instruction pictures may make sense then! Good luck.
