  Replacement Main-Oven Door Seal Poor quality 02 January 2012

  I ordered a new door seal at the same time as replacement hinges as my oven door was leaking heat. I have written about the hinge replacement(which was easy and successfull)in a previous report. Unlike the new hinges though, the replacement seal is of poor quality and offers now improvement over the 10 year old part I was replacing. I cannot beleive that any post manufacture inspection of the part would allow it to be offered for sale ! There are two faults, the first, the join at the bottom of the seal is faulty/misaligned, the second relating to the section of the seal and it's effectiveness to accomodate a variable gap, door to oven is inadequate and reflects a poor design. I don't believe that this can be an OEM replacement and must be a cheap alternative (not to me of-course !). In an idle moment since, I was looking at new ovens recently and noted that the seal design on new Bosch ovens did not exhibit the same poor seal /section design that I describe here and I am confident that if I ordered a bosch replacement of this type it would do the job perfectly well (the fixing method of the Bosch seal is identical to my neff oven).
