The hunting is caused by pressure loss from the leak. This is usually due to a split in the cylinder head.

Answer this question

The part that attaches to the cylinder head has burst due to frost damage. Is this bit available as a spare. At least our cylinder is much bigger than the bit in your image. Can you advise.

It pulses because the high pressure that turns the motor off leaks away. unplug and remove the case. just connect the hoses and identify the area it is leaking. Replace that part to resolve your problem.

See our video :Replacing the inlet and outlet connectors on a Karcher pressure washer http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/8/1166/replacing-connections-karcher-pressure-washer This will get you to the point that you can just undo the four Allen bolts to remove the cylinder head.

Answer this question

I received new cylinder head supplied by you this morning Thanks for your quick turn round and service I fitted new head but problem still happening Pump still pulsing when trigger is released every second or so Can you suggest cause and cure

The pulsing is caused by a loss off high pressure anywhere between the gun and the cylinder head. You have replaced the head itself but the next part we would try would be Stock Number: ES952769. We cannot guarantee this is the fault but it is the next most likely part in our opinion.

  • Ditto, it was a tiny crack in the control head, which is fairly individual to the model and quite expensive. (But much cheaper than a new K5). Now working just lke new. Not sure which valve you are talking about, but if it's in the high pressure system and is leaking, yes it could be By D.R. - Sheffield - 14 July 2015

I installed the new head but the motor will not turn, just hums. I had to use the bolts to push the head onto the pistons. Is there a step I am missing? Is a valve the wrong way round?

Answer this question

I have a Karcher 420MH model and seem to have a water leak around the cylinder head area. Is this a common fault and can it be fixed?

By Frogman - Rochester Kent - 26 February 2012
  • Had the same problem with a 380. Tried to repair but the pressure is too great( shows how good the Karcher is). Bought a new head of espares, stripped and fitted in about 35 minutes. By Anonymous - N. Yorkshire - 16 July 2012
