This is an Electrolux EKT6045 installed 2005. Hardly used and in very good order throughout. The bottom oven was only brought into use as the top failed and itself used 5 times only ever since new. The grill and all 4 hotplates work perfectly well. I think it is worth stating that meat or fat products have never been cooked in either oven and that both heating elements are clean.

It is likely one or more elements are failing. This may even be the grill although not in use at the time.

Answer this question

It may be that the thermostat has either failed or come off the switch or control shaft. For information on this repair see our video: How to replace an oven thermostat in an electric cooker - Zanussi http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/1/1428

It is more likely to be the grill element itself, examine it carefully as you may find a split or small blister that would indicate where the element has failed. Suspect the element even if you cannot find any damage.
