    What I badly needed 27 January 2011

Spot on door seal, the clamping arrangement for the drum on a Candy washing machine was a bit awkward but other than that the video guide of how to fit was pretty good.

It works fine! 13 December 2010

It is not manufactured as advertised but cheaper than the original Hoover one. Fitting is a pain. Commercial videos on the internet trivialise the difficulty but I found an instruction by a person who had gone through the pain and emulated it. The general problem is the lack of appropriate tools. It took me more than two hours but was still worth it. Otherwise I would have to pay £120 call out charge in addition to the cost of the door seal. SO go for it but with a bit of searching on the net.

    Not for the faint-hearted 30 November 2010

Excellent value and usual first-class Espares service but if your Candy washer has like mine a wire band fixture on the inside be prepared for tedious work releasing the nut and bolt that keep the door seal in place as access is difficult even with the top cover removed. Many other reviewers suggest you do not attempt the seal replacement without removing this cover and I completely agree. Excellent result and value if you have the patience.

Washing Machine Door Seal 11 October 2010

Apart from quality etc a small diagram or something would have been invaluable instead of taking two hours to fit and a lot of head scratching & swearing a diagram would have been a lot easier.otherwise a very god service.

Not THAT easy to fit!! 03 October 2010

Easily identified and ordered. Unusually for E-Spares delivery took 10 days, but not worried as not in hurry. Video helped to guide to fitting, but should only be treated as rough guide. Outer strap was more difficult to remove than seemed on video. Inner strap was solid wire ring (seeming different to that shown on video) with nut & bolt securing. V difficult to get to and loosen (and tighten later). Recommend have spanners handy. Other reviewers suggest a 6mm spanner, but I found mine needed 7mm, so be prepared to find differences. Use lubricant (washing up liquid) to assist in fitting. This was really needed to get wire back over rubber seal. Be careful with choice of assisting friend! Ended up doing it on my own. Recommend you allow plenty of time, do not plan to do anything else that day. Check and compare old product to new. I found mine was delivered in an 'inside out' condition, so had to twist it about a bit. However, in end fitted it. Relatively speaking it is a simple process, but it is hard work. Not as simple as video, but not the disaster that other reviewers suggest. Be patient! Otherwise good product and saved money!

Hoover Washing Machine Door Seal 09 August 2010

Item was exactly as described on the website. Postage seemed excessive bearing in mind it took nearly a week to arrive. Removing the old seal was a piece of cake. Fitting the new one was the exact opposite. Even after recruiting my son and his friend (both in their twenties), we still couldn't get the inner seal made to the drum after an hour of hard labour. Ended up consulting Yellow Pages and a repair man fitted it (on his own) in under 20 minutes for the lot. Definitely needs the experience of an expert to make that 1st seal.

Hope this helps 27 July 2010

Good value replacement part. I was fitting it to a Candy 165T. Like others I found it was easier to take the top off of the machine to have better access. The plastic clip at the front was quite easy to remove it just unclipped. The metal strap at the back was harder in that the screw mechanism was underneath the detergent box area making it difficult to get to. I used a pair of short pliers to hold the nut and an electric screwdriver with a small socket attached to undo the screw. Putting the new seal on was quite easy. I used washing up liquid to make manoeuvering it on easier. The job would have been easier with another pair if hands but all in all wasn't to bad. Replacing the straps was simply enough. Certainly a lot cheaper than paying someone. Took just over half an hour including searching for the right size socket.

Hoover washing machine gasket 03 July 2010

The video was a little help as it set the general principles. It was a pity much of the actual fitting was not shown but in fairness it would have very hard to video this. I fitted the gasket to a Hoover AA230. FIRST It would be very difficult if not impossible to do the job without removing the top - in itself by no means easy to do on this model. NEXT you need 2 x 7mm socket spanners one with a flexible extension to release the locking bolt on the inner retaining band which is wire and not extensible. You have to do this before you can remove the gasket. The second socket is needed as the nut on the securing bolt will turn unless restrained - a screwdriver wedged in would not do it. I found it easier to fit the gasket without the inner retaining wire fitted. That said it was far form easy to get it to seat properly all round the groove. I use the edge of the 7mm socket on the screwdriver handle to push it over the gasket into the groove. Don't use a screwdriver as you may pierce the gasket if it slips - as it almost certainly will. It is much easier if the edges of the gasket are wet as it seats more easily in the groove (inner and outer). Fitting the tube at the front is very hard without a little lubrication. It took well over an hour to do it with two of us but was OK in the end.

Good for value 25 January 2010

My Dad fitted the door seal for me and said it was really rather tricky nothing to do wit the part just the actual job. He used Washing up liquid to get it in place. No need to spend more money on a lubricant. It works and I'm happy.

    Fiddly fitting 09 June 2009

I think I'm fairly handy but removing the inner clamp on the seal of the Hoover AL120 was very fiddly with the restricted access. I could only complete by improving access by sliding back the top of the washing m/c. Model specific instructions would have been useful.
