    Servis oven 22 May 2012

Not straight forward to fit - needed to remove plate, add spacers, drill out the threads on the new fan so I could use the original screws and then drill two new holes in the oven back plate. So saying once done worked fine,

replacement fan motor 18 April 2012

replaced the universal oven fan motor in my Hotpoint cooker, but the cover that went on the fan at the front inside the oven would not go back on as there was not enough room for fan to go round,so my hubby had to space it off with some bolts so that the cover did not touch the fan, but it did say it would fit our oven or i would have not have got it in the first place and i might have gone for the dearer on in the end but the oven is working so it turned out alright in the end.

Not joining the fan club for this one! 15 December 2011

Having read previous reviews of this product, I was half prepared for problems. Oven dismantled OK, fan cover came off , and 3 screws released the old one. New one went in on the same fixing holes, so it seemed OK, till I came to fit the fan cover inside the oven. Fan was protruding too far. Dismantled everything and compared old and new. Shaft on new motor protruded 10mm further than the old one , hence the problem. So after some consideration, I decided that the motor neded to be spaced off the faceplate by the 10mm. So I made 3 standoffs from brass tube, and replaced the bolts that fitted the motor to the faceplate with longer ones, through the tube separators. Nuts and spring washers secured the bolts, rather then trying to find longer ones with the same thread as the originals. Then replaced OK with asbestos gasket, and cover fitted OK. Definitely not a project for someone without some engineering experience, but despite the time taken, cheaper than the official version, and definitely cheaper then getting Hotpoint to do the job.
