Seem good - fit to Hotpoint WF-100. 01 August 2018

The machine has stopped banging and jumping about, so initial result is good and as expected! Mostly I came here to reassure anyone else with a 13+ year old Hot Point WF-100 that these do fit, even though they look very different to the original part. It's hard to rate products like this when you've only just fitted them and so cannot yet tell just how well they'll work or how well they'll last. I'm hoping this will be the first and only time I will change them. My tips - you'll be going in at the bottom of the machine, find a way to support the drum if you don't have the shipping bolts or you'll struggle to remove or insert the pins/pegs because stuff really needs to line up at the top of the shocks. New pins/pegs are supplied, so you can choose to cut the springy tab off the old ones to aid removal if it helps. Be aware that the edges of the metal at the bottom of the machine are sharp!

Knocking Drum Solved 27 March 2017

Washing machine had started to bounce around when fully loaded and sounded very noisy. Thought at first it was the bearings but these seemed ok so bought some new dampers. The replacements were a better design than the originals, easy enough to fit and have solved the jumping about problem!

    Good purchase 10 November 2015

Item supplied was exactly right but not quite as easy to fit as shown in the video. Took slightly longer as the pins were hard to remove and one had originally been fitted by the makers with the 'tongue' inaccessible.

Replacing dampers on a wt 960 hot point washing machine. 07 May 2013

Ok not being able to level my machine for some time and listening to it banging away, I thought something else needed changing, and the dampers came to mind, I found the required parts, and ordered them. When the parts came t hrough they were of different construction, never mind obviously upgraded, looking at how they fitted to the machine, they were correct. Turn off the electric! Placing a few towels in a heap on the floor and lowering the machine onto them allowed access through the open bottom and also meant the machine was stable and was easier to lft up, don't forget, the tub weights they are heavy. A pair of pliers to hold and push through the retaining pin at the top of the damper, and a screwdriver to undo the retaining screws at the bottom and the damper can be pushed towards the centre of the access hole which will release the 2 retaining teeth on the base plate. Job done when putting the new ones on engage the teeth, and push the base plate down to put in the 2 screws BEWARE the teeth break easy, qualitity of plastic, but go ahead and install the damper the screws hold it in place. Extend the damper by pulling it and put it in place and push the new retaining pin in place. Job done. If you are going to the trouble of changing the dampers, 30 minute job tops check the rest of the machine, drop the bottom rubber and clean it out, and the pump. Cost for parts with packaging 30:00 Fitting time 30 minutes Ease of fitting 5 out 10, the top retaining pins can be tricky to start moving Checking the old dampers and I wondered why I changed them? Turned on the machine and done a 1600 spin and it was like new, no noise. no banging or jumping, missus well happy (maybe not though she was ready to buy a new one!) and my pocket 200 quid better off. If your cautious about correct parts phone, they are more than willing to help.

Change of design 29 March 2012

Decided to renew the two dampers as a routine part of changing the drum bearings. On arrival found the new dampers to be of a new, and perhaps improved design. No problems with fitting, except that I was a little concerned at the thinness of the plastic lower mount where it is threaded to take the two fastening screws, as compared to the original. So I added a flat washer and nut to each screw to insure against the stripping of the plastic threads when the dampers are in use.
