Although it could be used on hard floors the purpose of a rotating brush or beater bar is to agitate carpets to help release dust and dirt so this would be more useful on rugs and carpets.

Answer this question

The brush has stopped spinning, and I have taken off the cover plate, but can't get the brush out. There is a bracket holding it in place, which I assume should pop off somehow, but I can't get it off, so can't get to the belt or to clean the brush itself. Any help appreciated! thank you.

  • Very difficult, this does not seem to be made with cleaning in mind, only with (expensive) replacement. I found hair and such like gets wrapped around the brush and finally jams it. All I could do was cut through the hair with a knife and pull it out, not 100% successfully. Like you,I found it impossible to remove the brush for cleaning. I have a miele s316i (cat & Dog) model and the beater brush has stopped working and the orange hazard light on the beater brush housing. does that indicate the motor has gone bad or some other problem? I've taken the housing apart, cleaned, checked connections, verified parts are free moving.

Hi Dano, if the brushroll isn't turning, it could well be the drive belt is damaged or broken. If you take the tool apart you should be able to get a closer and see if there's a problem. I'd also check for blockages in the hoses and ducting. If there's a burning smell, it'd be your motor. Hope this helps!

Hi Sarah0501, the model number can be on the vacuum in several positions. Our guide shows you where the number might be situated: http://www.espares.co.uk/findingmodelnumbers.aspx#a6. Also, if you still have your user manual the number will be in there.

On the underside of this head there is a rubber flap. Is it possible to buy this separate to the head?

Hi Mich I'm afraid this head tool only comes as one part and it is not possible to buy any components of it separately. Sorry!

Answer this question

Will the turbo head pick fluff and hair up better and can I use it on hard floors or would I need to swap them over? Thanks for any help, Rachel.

Hi Rachel This tool is certainly excellent for use on rugs and carpets in particular - especially effective on pet hair. It is also suitable for use on hard floors, and it is really up to you and what combination you find works best as to whether you swap head tools for different surfaces. Happy hoovering!
