Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Motor - YDK 240V YV-2201 for DC08 ALLERGY + CARPET PRO Stock Number: ES860723
Genuine spare part for select models of Dyson vacuum cleaners
I haved a DC08 Animal Dyson that is very old but works well after cleaning and replacing pretty much everything. Now the motor has gone so would it be cost effective to replace the motor, given its age, or do I need to buy a new machin? 1 Answer

The cost of the motor is little to the cost of a Dyson machine if the rest is in good condition.
WILL YV2201 FIT TO A DC29 HOOVER

The only motor we have identified for your machine is Stock Number: ES966732 and we do not have information on the differences between motors.
I used my DC08 to vacuum the vacuum bag last night, apparently I turned on the vacuum too long and I smelled a burning smell, then I turned the DC08 off. When I turned on the DC08 this morning, it still has the horrible burning smell and within few seconds, it stopped working, it's dead. Is the motor gone? would change the motor solve the problem?

The problem is likely to be the motor. Dismantle and examine for signs of burning on the armature from worn brushes.

We do not have this information and it is not relevant to the part as it will be the same RPM as all dyson motors for this model.
- Go to YouTube and type in dyson dc08 motor it will show you were it is and how to replace it . Hope that answer ur question
what is the difference between this item and ES474468, I can see that the other comes with a Fan Case Seal Assembly but does the other include the motor?

This stock number, ES860723, is also listed for DC11 Vacuum cleaners and the other stock number, ES474468 is only for DC08 appliances but also comes with the fan case seal assembly. For further questions please contact us: http://www.espares.co.uk/contactus.aspx
Hi I believe the motor has gone on my Dyson DC 11 allergy it probably needs a new HEPA filter too. Do instructions for fitting come with the parts? I have removed most of the out housing but can't get to the motor itself

Hi Reeval, you'll need a torx head screwdriver to unscrew the motor bucket top - once this is off the other parts will come out. Check out our torx set here: http://www.espares.co.uk/part/kitchen-appliances/p/1/0/0/0/1251179/9-piece-torx-head-screwdr.html
I have a DC08 Purple/Lime model which is 6 and a half years old now. Would replacing the motor improve suction? 1 Answer

Rory at eSpares says...
Hi Robert57, there's many ways to improve suction - have you tried emptying out the bin, cleaning the filters, or making sure the tubes are unblocked? If these parts aren't functioning properly, it will reduce suction, make the motor work harder and eventually wear it out.

Hi cgil2008 According to Dyson, this motor will fit all models in the DC08 and DC08 TW ranges. So the answer is yes.
Will this part fit my appliance?
