Check the motor brushes as if worn they can give the impression of a faulty door lock.

Answer this question

Door lock light flashes and machine will not start. I had put in a load and initially it started working but when I returned to remove the washing the cycle had been interrupted by a tripped fuse. I fixed this but since then the door lock continues to flash and machine will hot start

Answer this question

i've had problems with the main fuse board tripping when when i put my washing machine on but have notice also that i had to bang the door to get it to work before it would start then it would start but then trip the fuse, my question is could the door interlock cause this problem if faulty? and is there anyway of testing the interlock is causing the problem? i have had a look for water leaks that may cause it to short but there is no visible when taking top off and looking from the bottom of machine.

Having to bang the door before it works suggests a faulty door lock but it may be necessary to replace it to prove. The usual cause of tripping is the heater not the lock.

It is not necessarily a problem caused by the door lock. Check motor brushes first and see what part of the cycle the problem occurs. Check out our diagnosis videos in our advice centre for more information.
