Genuine spare part suitable for select models of Hotpoint, Indesit and Ariston tumble dryers
I replaced the thermostats in June last year as it was not heating up and I had to do the same again in Feb this year. Those thermostats failed along with the element 10 days later so I replaced both thermostats and element. Both have failed again in just a few weeks. The multimeter reading on the element is over 80 so per your video that is too high and it has failed and the thermostats also seem to have failed. Is there something else I need to replace to stop these new parts from failing so quickly? Thanks.

It may be possible to read the high heat and regular element is series and get a reading of 80 ohms so it suggests the element is OK. If you stop the machine mid cycle as the air flow stops immediately the thermostats can overheat and fail. Replace the thermostats and do not stop when hot but allow to finish the cycle with the cool down phase at the end.
The 4 elements & holders are rather fragile.

Check the airways and condenser are clear of fluff build up. If everything else is OK you may have a faulty element.

I have checked and cleaned all vents and removed fluff as per handbook. No heat is coming from the drum at all. How can I tell if its the heater that is the problem. If it is do you stock the spare part and is it easy to fit?
- I had the same problem and found that it could be either the element or the small thermostat senses around the back with the element/drum? Espares sell both, it is worth replacing the thermostat senses first then the element. This is an easy fix which is cost effective:) Cheers Daniel
3out of 4 of the elements seem to work but the dryer keeps overheating and tripping the thermal switch any ideas??

Hi Mahoney Without actually seeing your Hotpoint CTD40G tumble dryer, it is impossible to tell what is causing this problem. What I would advise is talking to your local Hotpoint or tumble dryer specialist and they should be able to diagnose the problem for you. And that's where we come in!
