Hi T J, it sounds as if there's a problem with the motor, the bearings or the belt of the machine. First, check if the belt is still attached. To do this, give the drum a spin; if it spins more freely than usual, you'll need to reattach the belt. You can see a video of how to do that here: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1375/how-to-replace-the-belt-on-a-washing-machine-.html. If the belt is ok, check and tighten the drum pulley. Next, check the bearings. If the drum or pulley are wobbling, the bearings are gone. Lastly check the motor - have it come loose? You should also check for any stray socks and the like. If you still can't diagnose after all that, it's likely to be a failed motor.

Hi there, I'd check the drain hose for any blockages - if not that, it may be a plumber problem.

Hi Pacman, it sounds as the pump may be wired wrongly. I'd advise refitting it, while double and triple checking the wiring. Hopefully when it's refitted it'll work correctly.

Answer this question

the back of this pump has two single fittings.my original has one double bladed fitting.so how do you fit it?or do i have to order the original correct part no 56835 for my washer/dryer indesit WIDXL126.

  • if you ar referring to the 0.25" spade connectors, then because the power supply is 250VAC you can connect one wire to each of the spades any way round, any way you can, it will still work. just make sure the insulator material is good if you have to split the connector. Answer this question

When I put on any wash program it reaches spin cycle, water does not drain, the drum does not spin and there is a loud grinding noise from the bottom of the machine. could it be the pump or the motor which is faulty?

  • my samsung washer had same problem, if your machine has a 'debris filter' check that first. if thats clear its the drain pump, got one from espares (£10.99) & works a treat! easy fix, unplug & tilt machine backwards remove 2 hoses (beware water will come out!) remove 2 wires & 2 mounting screws, refit new one. samsung quoted £43.99 for identical part!
