You will need test the switch with a multimeter to determine if it has failed and also check the bottom element in the top oven.

Answer this question

I have replaced the element and the thermal cut out on top of the oven but it still does not work.what else could it be?

You need to test the switch and the thermostat as they are the most likely.

Answer this question

Top oven control has started to 'hum' when left on for any period of time. The switch controls both the grill and oven functions but only hums when using the oven function. Should I replace or will it be ok?

It would be unusual for the switch to make a noise but check the oven fan motor as this is running at this time and more likely to cause the noise.

It sounds like a faulty element. for details see our video: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/1/2145/how-to-diagnose-problems-with-your-oven

Answer this question

Good morning, my grill keeps turning itself on but only half of the element gets hot. I've changed both elements, grill and oven to see if that rectified the issue, but no. Could it possibly be the switch itself and if so is the the part that I would need? Our oven is a hotpoint DY46X/2.

It sounds like a switch problem as there should be no power when off. For more information see our video: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/1/2145/how-to-diagnose-problems-with-your-oven
