today while my washing was in my hotpoint aquarius 1000 wm62 washing machine it did every thing normally except the drum did not move and there for did not spin to remove the water, but when i took the washing out and tried it with my hand it moves normally so is it the motor thats broken

I have WM63 when I picked it up there was no life from the motor! So I checked the brushes and they were completely worn out. I replaced those and we had a working machine. I got called off to another job. When I came back I had a complaint of a non spinning machine. So I Took the lid off lots of and I had lots of arcing from the commutator. Half way through a rinse cycle the motor went pop! I pulled the brushes out again, and they had stuck in the holder, which was the cause of the arcing. But I now have no life from the motor again. Any thoughts? What can I check? I have a good quality DVM. Could stuck brushes damage the motor/control board?

Check you are getting a reading across the two brushes of around 2 to 5 ohms through the armature. If this is OK and still no power suspect the module. You may find 'witness marks' in the module to confirm it has blown.
