Washing Machine Pressure Switch

If the pressure switch fails, the pressure of the water cannot be determined, and the machine will not start. The pressure switch will help ensure that the drum is not under filled or over filled with water, and will prevent potential leaks around the appliance by stopping excess water from entering the drum. With help from eSpares and this replacement pressure switch, you can soon be back to a fully working washing machine - so you can tackle the laundry again in no time!

I have a machine which switches on but it does not click and fill the drum with water; you can hear it humm and water does appear at the drain but in no large quantity. Have checked the water pressure and pipes from filling valves to soap box and all are clear from obstructions. the filling valves read 0.002 on ohm meter - is this a pressure switch failure?

The inlet valves should read between 2-4 thousand Ohms so based on yout=r reading the valve needs to be replaced.

Answer this question

if I put the machine in the test mode, everything works, full speed spin, heater , water fill and drain and wash in both directions. If I run the machine as normal I.e. spin only , it starts of slowly and does the draining but then stops. If I try any wash cycle , it starts but eventually gets stuck at a stage say continually washing one direction and then the other. The water temp seems ok. It's as if it has got confused. I think it might be the pressure switch. Can you help?

The pressure switch should only effect filling or emptying and may inhibit spinning until the machine thinks it is empty. Your problem is more likely to be the control board but may require replacement to confirm.
