Many modules now fit a number of different machines and are programmed to select different spin speeds or longer wash times depending on model. These modules often are supplied 'blank' and do not function at all until programmed. This involves connecting this reader and using the correct smart card. The information is downloaded once only (then the card is erased) and the board is given the correct operating instructions for the appliance.
