the glass on my oven door has just exploded and smashed into a million pieces whilst i was cooking if i order a new glass what is the likely hood of

this happening again and what could have caused this to happen

  • There are two parts to the door, inner heatproof and outer mirror glass. One probable cause of the outer glass shattering is that the inner glass has slipped allowing heat to transfer to the outer glass. For diy re-do the inner glass door seal with heatproof sealant. For the outer glass scrape out any residual glass, remove any grease and unscrew door from the underneath to replace the glass. It is unlikely to happen again as long as the seal on the inner glass is maintained. By drinksometea - telford - 12 December 2009
