flymo micro lite motor running slow and overheating all is clean and free running what is the cause

Answer this Question (1 Answer)

  • i would suspect motor windings shorting between windings effectively reducing the number of windings and allowing more current to pass as fewer windings have less resistance -the excess current will produce more heat and the slower revolutions less cooling so motor will overheat and burn out the probable cause is that at some stage the microlite has been overloaded and caused motor to run hot causing a partial burning of windings insulation which is only a form of shellac covering on the wires By bernie - stanford le hope essex - 12 November 2011
