What is the Whirlpool Tumble Dryer Front Drum Seal for AWZ3303 used for?

I have replaced the drive belt on my dryer but then I discovered a felt type belt that has come off and presume it must be from the drum as it has indents on it that comes from a wheel that has been running on it. My question that I am asking if it is a drum seal and is it vital to have this fitted and would the Whirlpool Tumble Dryer Front Drum Seal for AWZ3303 be what I am looking at? Kind regards. The seal is to ensure warm air flow from within the drum (and lint particles) are directed through the filter and vented correctly. Without the seal in place lint and condensation will escape the drum and into the environment around the dryer.
