  • Power off !! and fitting is very straightforward but remember the nut securing the fan blade is a reverse thread. Fan blade must be removed on my model (U1721W0GB/02) to access the top mounting screw on the element and can be tight to remove without damaging the fan motor. I put the nut back on the fan spindle a couple of turns and then used mole grips to pull the fan gently forward in a straight line to provide a little tension. I then tapped the nut with a small hammer to release the fan down the spindle. Removal of the element is easy but note the cable colours to the two connectors to ensure the correct connections. Worth cleaning the fan spindle and the hole through the blade unit while you have it removed. By Dave S - Midlothian - 16 December 2013
