How do I dismantle the seal restraint without breaking it?

The door hing has fallen inside themy Hotpoint WMA34P washing machine. Am I correct in beleiving that I need to dismantle the door seal in oder to access the back of the door hinge? Or is there another way?. Note my machine has this type of fitting (Hotpoint Ref: 1600028) and not the simpler fitting (Indesit spares reference: C00264305).
