Would I need one of these if the washing machine is leaking underneath?

This seal is to connect the front and rear drum shell together without leaking and is not likely to be the cause of your leak. If the machine leaks more than a cup of water unplug it and remove the back before pouring a kettle of water into the drum and looking for where it is leaking from. The common areas to leak from are the pump housing, the door seal and the drum assembly. If it is leaking from the drum due to a hole or split then this is likely to be caused by a coin in the washing and would require a new drum. If there is only a little water below the soap draw try cleaning the water jets above the draw as mould can cause water to run out of the draw.
