My LG washing machine is making a loud grinding noise intermittently during the wash cycle (not spin). Is this likely to be a pump requiring replacement?

I've stripped the pump and can't find any foreign objects and have drained all of the pipes. It is draining fine and takes water in when it needs to. It doesn't make the noise when the drum is spinning, only when the drum is stationary and it appears to be taking water in or draining (not sure which).

It would be unusual to make a noise during the filling process but if the pump has become noisy during draining it will require replacing, put the machine on a drain only programme to test the pump.
