I too am having trouble removing the screw to replace the drum filter. What type of head is the screww reference your advice to sue a quality fitting screwdiver. Would appreciate your advise. Driving me nuts!

The screw can corrode making it impossible to remove. It may be possible to drill out and replace the spider onto the old drum but you may not be able to remove without damage.
