Main motor is not working

I have a BEKO WME8227W washing machine and the main motor does not function correctly. When set to spin, on pushing the start button the pump out motor works but then, when the main motor should start, there is either no action or a short burst and then an immediate stoppage. I have checked the brushes on the main motor and they seem to be in good condition with at least one and a half centimeters of brush exposed when they are removed from the motor. I am wondering whether a faulty interference filter could cause these symptoms or whether there is another relay somewhere that could be the problem. Yours faithfully, Jonathan Marman
