Fan is rubbing against the element but element looks ok is it likely to be the fan

    It is more likely the element will have distorted and drooped to contact the fan especially if it catches on the top of the fan. Replace the fan motor as well if it is slightly stiff to turn or noisy as this can cause the element to overheat and distort.
