does not switch off. Freezer gets to -40oC. New 'stat fitted. Same!

What else can be wrong? New stat looks identical. Rapco K59. Stat never switches off, no matter what I do. Fridge gets to -2C or so. I have crudely checked stat on bench - freezer spray on body, capilliary in free air, contact switches off then on. Any ideas?

On some fridge-freezers the capillary is fed to the back of 'wet wall' by passing through a tube. If this capillary does no longer contact the wall (because the tube has come away) then it will not read the temperature and the compressor will continue running. It may not be possible to reconnect this.
