K beater deposit

my K beater acquires a black coating when it is in store. This black sooty deposit can be washed off, but why does it happen at all?

  • This happens to our paddle when it has been washed in the dishwasher. It's like a grey deposit that shows in the butter when you first use it even only a day later. We now wash it in the sink by hand and it never happens anymore! By KW - Sheffield - 16 June 2017

This deposit could either be some type of mould or bacteria or could be as a result of contact with a different type of metal during storage. Make sure it is fully dry and on a plastic or wooden surface o prevent some type of electrolysis action.
