Will this stop my vacuum cleaner from over heating.
It overheats, the cable gets hot but also the area around this filter which on mine is old and worn and also the plastic cover gets hot.

Improved air flow will cool the motor better and reduce the running temperature. Also ensure that all the cable is unwound if using it for more than a few minutes as this helps disperse heat from building up.
