How do I get the old brushes out of the assembly.

I have taken the carbon brush assembly off the motor, but it is not obvious how you get the old brushes out.

Answer this Question (1 Answer)

  • Carefully lift the 2 or 3 small tabs on the back of the old brush assembly with a small flat ended screwdriver, in the centre you'll see a spot solder-weld just about covering the end of a copper wire - this is the end of the carbon brush, undo this and remove the old brush, re-insert the new brush and spring and re-solder the end of the new wire in the same place. Press the 2 or 3 tabs back into place and insert the whole assembly back into the motor. HTH Riz By Riz - UK - 20 November 2013
