My wife's KM400 mixer has stopped working. I have put a meter across the motor terminals and it measures open circuit. So suppect motor. But how can I tell if I need a replacement motor with or without thermal cutout & sensor?

If it has an additional sensor it will have more than two wires. You may not be able to identify if it has a cut out or not.
