My washing machine drains the water from the drum and then leaks. Its a large amount of water. This is variable. Sometimes it works fine other times it has been leaking. Is the pump the likely cause?

I have checked the drains and drainage pipe for blockage. I have checked the filter which is clean but fills with water on a leak.

If there was a problem with the pump or filter it would likely leak on every use. If this is intermittent it may be leaking when filling from the dispenser due to excess soap or mould, or from the drain pipe if it overflows on emptying due to poor plumbing or blockage, See our video: • http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/1825/how-to-diagnose-washing-machine-dispenser-and-filling-problems
