      Our dishwasher has blown the controller twice, the second time straight after having it replaced. Is it possible that the top rack motor has shorted the board.

      It appears some triacs and transistors are blown out on the board.

        It is likely the heater can blow the board, you will need to test it with a meter to determine if it has failed.
