The rod that attaches this knob to the oven has snapped do I need to buy the rod as well as the knob, if so, where will I find this

The 'rod' you refer to is part of the control underneath and not available separately. If this is a fan oven there may be a switch before the thermostat and it is likely to be the switch shaft broken. Call us with the make and model number on 0844 375 3375 if you cannot identify the part required.
