Dryer Door Not Closing

Door Latch

If your tumble dryer door is refusing to close, don’t panic as we can provide you with the possible reason why. The main offender usually turns out to be the door latch, failing to make connection with the door lock.

When the door latch makes contact with the doors microswitch, the machine is signaled to confirm the door is lock and ready for the dryer to start. If yours decides to differ, use our easy to follow diagnosis to help you fix your dryer yourself and save the expensive call out charge.

  • Open the door and check for any visual damages to the latch itself.
  • Depending on the model the dismantle of the latch may be different, usually the latch is held in by screws or clipped in - replace if damaged.
