How to Replace the Programme Unit on a Tricity Bendix Dishwasher

If the control knob on your Tricity Bendix dishwasher isn't working, it could be that the control knob just needs replacing which is a simple fix. If the control knob is fine, the spindle that the control knob attaches to may have become damaged on the programme timer unit. In this article, we're going to show you how to replace the programme timer on your dishwasher and get your appliance back up and running again.

Replacing your dishwasher control knob

Before beginning this fix, check if your control knob needs replacing first. If it has become loose or damaged, you can simply slot a new one into place. You can find replacement control knobs for your dishwasher on our website.

How to replace the programme timer on a Tricity Bendix dishwasher step by step

If you've checked your control knob and found that this isn't causing the problem, you will need to replace the programme timer. Take a look at our article or watch the video below for a step-by-step guide on how to do this. The process is shown on a Tricity Bendix DH 090 model but it will be very similar for the DCH 086 model as well as most Tricity Bendix slimline dishwashers and other dishwasher models too.

Safety First!

Before you begin, make sure your dishwasher is switched off and completely disconnected from the mains.

You'll need:

To complete this repair, you'll need the following:

Step 1: Remove the top panel

The first thing you need to do is remove the top panel. To do this, remove the screws that are holding it in place around the inside of the door. You will need to use a Torx head screwdriver for this.

After you've done this, you can undo the top panel.

Step 2: Remove the main panel

To give you a little more room to work, you will next need to remove the main panel. Again, remove the screws that are holding it in place around the inside of the door and place the panel to one side.

Step 3: Remove the plastic covering

Now you have access to the program unit, you will need to remove the plastic covering. This should be easy to just pull away but be sure to keep it to one side to replace later.

Step 4: Remove the holding screws

Next, remove the screws that are holding the programme timer in place.

Step 5: Refit the wiring to the new unit

As you can see, there are lots of wires connected to the programme unit. You will need to connect these wires in the exact same way to the new unit. The terminals on the programme unit are numbered and these correspond with the numbers on the wires so you should be able to match these up easily.

If you don't have numbers on your unit, and for a bit of extra help, we recommend that you take a photo of how the wires are attached so you can refer back to it and double-check that all the wires are in the correct places.

Step 6: Refit your dishwasher

When the wires are in place, it's time to put your dishwasher back together! Be sure to refit the holding screws and replace the plastic covering before replacing your main and top panels.
