How do i find out if this is the problem

Or can it be the switch.My old light bulb blew when i put a new one in it still does not work?

    Use an inexpensive multimeter to identify with the plug disconnected if you have continuity from the live and neutral connections to either connection on the lamp holder. Make sure the shape of the bulb is not preventing it screwing fully in.
