Reversing the Swing on a Fridge Door - Zanussi

Depending on the layout of your kitchen, you may need to reverse the swing of the fridge door. This is relatively straightforward to do, as explained in this video - using a Zanussi fridge.

If you've decided to give your kitchen a makeover and in the process the fridge has been moved to which it opens from the opposite side? Thankfully, this doesn’t mean you need to go out and buy a new fridge.

Instead, you can reverse the swing on your fridge door, and we will explain how to do just this. Below we’ve compiled a simple step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Step 2 - Empty The Fridge

Once the fridge is empty, move the fridge to an open space in the kitchen or like the hallway as suggested in the video and lay it down on its back. This will give you full access to your appliance without any obstruction.

Note: Lean the refrigerator up against a basket, this will ensure that the weight of the fridge isn't going down on the condenser coils, as this could damage them.

Step 3 - Remove Freezer Door

Now to remove the doors… Start off by removing the foot by unwinding it off and then take the screws out of the bottom hinge to release the door. Once, the bottom hinge is off, you can remove the freezer door from the main body.

Step 4 - Remove Fridge Door

Lets remove the fridge door… Move onto removing the middle hinge that will be fastened in with a couple of screws.

Once you've removed the middle hinge, the fridge door will lift away.

Step 5 - Removing Pin and Plugs To Opposite Side

Now that the doors are out of the way, take the pin out of the top hinge and move this to the opposite side, along with the plugs in the side of the fridge, followed by those at the top and bottom of the fridge door.

eSpares Top Tip: Use a pliers to twist out the pin, as it can be slightly tight.

Step 6 - Re-hinge The Fridge

Let's put everything back together… Start with the top door and work your way down with the middle hinge to the finish off with the bottom door and hinge. Don't forget to put the screws and feet back in the original side.

There you go, it's all done. The fridge will now open the opposite way, which will now be a lot more convenient for your kitchen.
