How to Replace the Belt on a Breadmaker

Home made bread is a blessing it tastes so much better when partnered with your favourite filling. Using breadmakers make the process so much easier therefore when a fault occurs stopping you from making your bread you’ll want to locate the culprit ASAP. When the kneading blade no longer turns in the pan the cause can be traced back to a faulty belt. Luckily you can replace it easily and all you need to do is get a replacement belt and follow our step by step guide.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

  • Belt
  • Screwdriver

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Step 2 - Getting to the Belt

To begin, we first need to remove the cover on the underside of the appliance and to do this we need to flip the machine over. You will see that the plate is held in place by six screws - once removed you will then be able to see the belt and drive assembly.

Step 3 - Removing the Belt

Replacing the belt is a very simple process simply lift it up slightly and while spinning it, it will come away from the drive assembly.

With the old belt removed you can now fit the new belt - now don’t distracted by the fact that the belt has teeth. Most think that the teeth face inwards however you would be wrong - the teeth face the outside because the inside of the belt is ridged and fits nicely onto the spindle.

Step 4 - Replacing the Belt

To actually fit the belt place it first over the small spindle and start to feed it onto the pulley, once it is on begin turning in the pulley wheel and the belt will slip on.

You can then give it a couple of spins to make sure it's on correctly and rotates smoothly. Once you're happy you can replace the lower panel - screw it in place and after you’ve put the bread maker upright you can begin preparing your ingredients to get a loaf of fresh bread made as your bread maker has been repaired.

Great work! When you enjoy making your own bread it could feel like a new appliance will be needed when your existing bread maker stops working. However instead of spending the money on a new machine, buy a replacement belt and replace it yourself.
