My washing machine does not work properly, everything seems to work until I try turn it on with the door closed, I have managed to get it to work by simply smacking where the interlock is when the door is locked a number of times, gradually getting hard the more often I do it, and it will suddenly lock and turn on and do the full spin no issues. Am I right in saying its just my interlock is gone basically and needs replacement?

The problem is likely to be the lock or worn motor brushes.
