  • I had a similar problem with my American style fridge freezer which must be about the same age. Upon dismantling the inside I found the the polystyrene insulation had ice in it and had swollen stopping the fan from moving. I am now looking for a replacement panel, the fridge is fine when the ice is removed but it comes back within a couple of weeks. By R Craven - Notts - 24 November 2012
  • I don't have the answer but the same problem: I wonder if you managed to solve it in any way? We defrosted the fridge and the noise stopped for a few days but now it is back again. It happened once before and we had someone come to repair it: I think he replaced a motor or a fan. I don't want to keep reparing it as in the end it'll cost little less than a new fridge. What solution did you find? By lidia5000 - London - 27 December 2011

The problem is likely to be due to no circulation of the cold air. This is usually a defrost problem see our video: How to diagnose a fault with a frost free fridge freezer http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/2/2113/how-to-diagnose-a-fault-with-a-frost-free-fridge-freezer
