Thermostat

If you are noticing that the temperature in your fridge freezer is not consistent, or has changed from what it has been set to, it could be due to a faulty thermostat. The thermostat in your fridge freezer regulates the temperature to help ensure your food is kept at the correct temperature.

If the motor is stopping for long periods then a new thermostat may be required. If the motor is continually running but the fridge is not cold enough the problem may be lack of gas or a failed compressor or too warm a position.

The thermostat housing is likely to be fixed to the cavity wall with a locating screw (may be behind the knob or under a plastic bung or even under the light lens), and a slot or locating peg. Once the screw is removed the assembly is slid to disengage the locating peg or slot and allow removal.

Hi Tony, I'd say it's either the thermostat or the door seal that is causing this problem. If the seal is damaged, heat is being allowed in to the fridge and therefore the motor works too hard to keep the fridge cool, resulting in frost. Check the seal for signs of damage and make sure that it sits snug with the door. If that doesn't help, it's probably the 'stat. The thermostat is located behind the housing on which the thermostat control knob sits.

Hi Curlyian213 This is the correct thermostat for your Electrolux ER7831I fridge freezer. However we can't guarantee that it is your thermostat playing up and if unsure we would advise you to contact your local fridge freezer or Electrolux specialist.
