These filters are larger than I thought. Do I fold them & then trim (so double thickness) or leave them unfolded & trim (so single thickness).

I have a old Neff Hob C4EE and I'd like to replace the filters. Do you think this type standard filter can be used to replace the existing filters?

I have an old metal filter, do i need to buy the same metal filter or can I use these standard grease filters model D5622X0GB/03
