I just asked a question to which I have not yet received a reply! Please could you tell me whether part ES177898 is a sealed unit and does it include a latch? If not how do we incorporate the existing latch? 2 Answers
- Just fitted one - not a sealed unit but it comes assembled and if you watch the video is easy to fit. The (plastic) latch i.e. the male part is included. I also replaced the Washing Machine Door Interlock at the same time - just to be sure and the part is cheap and easy to fit although getting the metal band back in position is probably easier with 4 hands! Again watch the video.

There is a video attached to the part page that shows how this type of handle is fitted and replaced and no it is not a sealed unit.

Hi Liberton, unfortunately the latch kit for the WMM53 model has been made obsolete by our suppliers, sorry.
I don't have the serial number of the machine. It's quite old. The small plastic lever on the right of the 'porthole' ( not BEHIND the plastic surround like on newer machines, but on the right hand side at the front) has broken off as I tried to open the door before the spin cycle had finished. Can I get a whole new door? Where from? In UK. If so how do I remove the old door? Can I do this job without any special tools, or does it need an experiences repair person please? I am in Whitleigh Plymouth Devon.
