I am a single 67 year old lady, will I be able to fix it?

This will normally require a couple of small screws fitted into the ceiling but due to its light weight these can fit directly into plasterboard.
Some alarms are now completely sealed to prevent removal of battery, and hence replacement. It is also suggest ed in some places that the detector element has a limited life

This alarm has two replaceable 9 volt batteries (one for the light) and uses ionization sensing technology. The manufacturer has not included information on its life expectancy.
