It does not appear to be as straight forward as you may think Thank you

  • Just to reiterate, the hinge lug for the freezer flap has a small catch underneath the lug which just needs to be levered out a couple of millimetres or so then the whole lug can be pulled forwards very easily. Don't try the hot water method. I experimented with the old damaged flap by pouring boiling water over it to make it more flexible. It does NOT work. By RC - Ludlow - 18 October 2019
  • Bit dubious about putting hot water on something going into sub-zero temperature so tried the blunt knife method. The front section of the shelf bracket comes out of the back section that supports the shelf and pulls right off. Do it slowly and ignore the screaming alarm if you can! It was refixed in a couple of minutes, and I am not good a DIY! By JANE - Brockenhurst - 14 July 2018
  • The hinge piece (Stock Number: ES1689146) has a plastic lug (not really a catch) near the front that fits into the lining. It was a really easy task to put a blunt knife near the front and gently lever it away from the lining and pull it forwards. Easy Peasy - less than one minute to add the new flap. The hinge piece Stock Number: ES1689146 has a catch that prevent this being removed. use a blunt knife to gently lever this area away from the lining and slide off before hooking the flap on and sliding back in position.

Answer this question

How do I fit the flap without knackering either the freezer or the flap. We have a broken one already

A simple impact adhesive should be suitable as it will not come into contact with food directly. We are sorry but manufacturers do not provide fitting instructions for most parts that why we have made so many fix it videos.

  • Oh dear - this sounds complicated. What kind of glue is required? I will try soaking the flap in hot water. Am about to order the flap again - the original smashed into pieces, and I returned the replacement flap because it didn't fit the freezer. Why aren't these instructions provided with the flap? There are two methods, either warm the flap in hot water to help make it less brittle to carefully bend over the pivot or use a blunt knife to carefully prise the pivot mount from the liner and reglue it back after fitting.
