Hard water leads to limescale deposits building up in your appliance, which reduces its efficiency and leads to premature failure. According to British Water, even a 1.6mm coating of limescale on a heating element can make it up to 12% less effective.

How to Clean a Smelly Dishwasher
Instructions:
- Pour half of the sachet into the detergent dispenser and the remainder into the bottom of your dishwasher.
- Select a wash cycle at a temperature higher than 55°C without prewash.
- Ensure the appliance is empty and do not use additional detergents.

Re Stanley's question on dirty dishes: There can be many reasons why a dishwasher may have poor results, search our advice centre for more information as it is unlikely to be a 'fault' on the machine.
- We have same problem with Bosch dishwasher. Have used Bosch descaler and cleaner regularly but still does not fully clean all dishes which we do not overload. Is it time to call out a Bosch engineer, which is costly?

The fault is usually caused by blockages or excess food residue built up in the spray arm holes. Other causes may be overloading dishes or a clogged filter or pump.
On the packet it says put in detergent dispenser. The picture on the website says put in the drum. Which is correct and do you put the contents of a whole sachet in the dispenser of a dishwasher?

As per the instructions, this product is to be placed directly into the drum on a cycle hotter than 55° without prewash
Will this product remove the black mould build-up on the rubber rim seal? Do I need a separate cleaning product for that or even replace the rubber (door) seal?

If you can't remove it with your fingernail the door seal would need to be replaced.

The active ingredient in one sachet of cleaner is only 5 grammes of Sulphamic acid per treatment around 60 grammes per year. A very small amount that would be extremely diluted but you should check advise from your sewage contractor if in doubt.
