Cut To Size Universal Fridge Plexiglass Shelf

This universal spare is made out of plexiglass - so you can cut it to size yourself. If your current shelf has shattered or cracked, it is best to have it replaced, because it will be unsafe to use and store your items on - and over time it will only become weaker.

It's important to take note of the size (shown in the specification area below), as this will help determine whether this particular shelf is suitable for your fridge.

Specification:

  • Size(mm): 550 x 480 x 5
  • Cut To Size

Cutting Suggestions:

To cut this glass, use a fine tooth saw like a tenon saw or hacksaw. It can be brittle so go slow and do a trial cut on the 'waste' area. To remove the sharp edges use a file or sandpaper to smooth out the edges.

Compatible spare part suitable for most refrigerators.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to the purchase of this item please check the dimensions to make sure this is the same size or slightly larger than your original shelf as it can be cut down.

  • Well believe it or not ..... I used all I had available A SAW ! Yep normal wood saw and it took me five mins . A couple of tips whilst your trying . Keep the saw as level as possible so cutting more across the length rather than into it and just go along with its OWN speed ! When you near the end take it slowly with NO pressure else it may crack , and its done . By Anonymous - Oxford - 11 October 2014

Check some of the reviews, most seem to have success using a fine toothed saw.

  • (I think the earlier answer may be for a different question!!) This plexiglass is plastic rather than true glass, and the intention is for you to cut the shelf to size. Measure and mark carefully, maybe applying something you can write on, preferably to the removable plastic film ('magic tape' or labels or decorators tape etc). Use either a fine-tooth saw or a jigsaw or a water-cooled diamond-wheel tile-cutting machine, then gently smooth off the cut edges, e.g. with a sanding block. Do NOT try score-and-snap, it doesn't work well on this material. If you could cope with a width of 273.5mm rather than 285mm, you'd just get 2 shelves out of this item. Closely check whether the door is closing squarely to the cabinet. If not, the door hinges may be faulty. Try removing the door seal to determine whether the door closes further - if it does not this would indicate a fault with the hinges. Otherwise, you may need to replace the seal.
