We have a combination microwave oven/ grill and because it is stainless steel we can't use anything abrasive to remove the burnt on slashes

    We would suggest you try this in an area of the cavity that is not prominent IE under the turntable. Many cleaners can be caustic and although it says non staining it might change the appearance of the stainless finish.

    Metal filters are normally an aluminium and may be damaged or plastic with carbon that cannot be cleaned but should be replaced.

    You should allow between 30 and 120 minutes for the solution to work on the deposits but remove before it starts to dry out.
