If your tumble dryer's drum isn't turning properly you've probably got a snapped drive belt on your hands. But don't panic, eSpares can soon help solve the problem. This replacement drive belt could be just what you need to get things turning in your dryer once more.

Specification:

  • Type: Polyvee

  • Section: 9PHE

  • Length: 1967mm

Spare part suitable for select models of Beko, Flavel and many more brands of tumble dryers.

Please check the list of suitable models to ensure that this spare part will fit your appliance.

Note: It may be very difficult to refit the belt over the motor spindle after replacement. There may be a number of ways to achieve this without the correct fitting tool, this is one method we have used.

Fit a 3/8 or 1/2 inch socket onto the motor spindle, then use an extension drive pass it through the belt and push the shaft into the socket levering the belt down below the spindle height and taught. While under tension rotate the shaft helping the belt towards the motor. When the belt is next to the motor carefully work the socket off and belt onto the motor shaft.

Found the drive belt to be broken and new part ordered for the Beco DRCS 68W. have watched the video on how to change the belt on the Bosch drier. How close are the instructions to the Beco please? Anything I need to be aware of? The drum dos seem rather stiff to turn, could this be the reason for the belt to break in the first place?

The reason why this belt has failed almost certainly will be the front drum seal sticking to the drum. This seal is like a foam draught excluder that can start to peal off the front panel and stick to the drum. If this is the case you will need Stock Number: ES1562712 as well as the belt. Clean the drum facia with a cloth sprayed with WD40 on a cloth to remove the sticky residue, Be carefull of sharp edges on the drum.

  • You will need to remove the back of the machine ( top comes off first!). Take a picture of the connections inside, remove all the screws and ease back away from the machine. the belt should slip over the front of the drum and be positioned at the rear where the belt marks show on the drum. If the front felt seal is worn now is the time the change it otherwise ease drum back in place, lay machine on its front (on towels or a rug) remove the panel at the bottom right of the machine to gain access to the motor spindle. you should now be able to see the belt which needs streching to fit over the motor spindle - this is the most difficult bit and needs a strong pair of hands and someone to hold the machine for you. If you havent screwed the back on yet this allows the belt to fit as the frame deforms slightly. The belt easily slips down the drum in the laid position which makes stretching it more difficult so try to keep it in place. When it comes to screwing the back on, locating the screw holes is a problem but once the bottome few on either side are in place the rest are simple. Again an extra pair of hands are useful pulling the machine back into square. Before refitting the motor cover check the air pipes are in place and not touching the belt. Connect any wires at this point, stand the machine up and test that it works. The belt should run into line. It took me about an hour including the felt seal at the front.
